Have you ever heard of C.O.S.O.?
It is one of the pilot projects enabling us to test and co-design the CommonsHood wallet app alongside the community that utilizes it. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Les Petites Madeleines association, which has spent years actively animating the Borgo Campidoglio neighborhood in Turin with tenacity and dedication.
We are inundated with plastics, garments, and single-use items. We are constantly driven to consume more and faster—isolated, anxious, and led to believe that our purchasing power alone gives meaning to our lives. From this condition arose a simple yet radical question: What if we disrupted this narrative and began collectively sharing what we individually own?
We started in the streets of Borgo Campidoglio with crates, boxes, and open-air tables. The rules are straightforward: leave what you do not use and take what you need. You can also lend and borrow items without needing to purchase them.
This is how COSO – Comunità Organizzata Scambio Oggetti (Organized Community for Item Exchange) was born: one of the earliest bottom-up experiments in civic, alternative, and activist blockchain implementation.
